Note on Husband: John Teevin
In their son Richard's marriage certificate in 1855, Mary's surname is written by the registrar as McLynn.
Edward was apparently born to a Thomas Teevin and Mary McGloan. This is almost certainly the John Teevin and Mary McGlean who were the parents of the three men who moved to Stirling. They all referred to him as John so it's most likely that this was his "real" name.
Yet in the 1841 Scotland census, a Thomas Teevins, born 1806 in Ireland, appeared as an agricultural labourer in Middlepart, Stevenson, Ayrshire. This doesn't seem to fit any other family so is likely to be the John/Thomas who married Mary McGlean. He was living with an Arnott family, so perhaps Mary was already dead.
In 1855 John was described as a farmer. In 1889 on his son James' death certificate, he was listed as a soldier. In 1892, they listed him as a farmer.
