Individual Note
He enlisted for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in WW1 in November 1915. He named his father as his next-of-kin, and stated that they were living in Lindsay, Ontario. When he enlisted, he was a farmer. He was 5ft 2 with a fair complexion, grey eyes and brown hair.
As he was only 15 years old, he put his date of birth as 22nd July 1897, but this was discovered after he had fought - a note on his paper says "Received GRO 21.4.18 actual age claimed 21.4.18 doctor's certificate gives date of birth 23 July 1900".
