Note on Marriage

Louisa's maiden name may be Price.

In 1881 Alfred and his wife, Louisa M Teevan, were living with their two daughters at 116 Netherwood Road, Fulham, Chelsea, Hammersmith, London. Alfred was a general practitioner and his stepson John H Catcliffe was living there. Since John was born in India, it is likely that Louisa's first husband was a soldier serving there. Alfred's family were, like the rest of his line, well off - they employed a general servant and two nurses.

By 1891 the family were living at The Rosery Station Road, Sussex. Alfred was not present, but had not died either since Louisa was listed not as Head but as Wife, and her marital status was married rather than widowed. However I haven't yet found Alfred in 1891 so perhaps he was abroad?

Louisa's son was still living with the Teevan's, as was Alfred's sister Frances. They had a general domestic servant as well as a housmaid.
