Note on Wife: Elizabeth Teven

Elizabeth's first child Janet was illegitimate, and her mother Jane's cross mark appears on the birth certificate. No father was named, but Elizabeth won the right in a paternity action to name John Dunn Leishman as the father.

Married William Clark in the Congregational Church. Was widowed by him and married Robert Campbell, apparently not in Church at all - her certificate just says she was married by declaration in front of the witnesses (ie a common law marriage). The witnesses were David Robertson and his wife Agnes (Teven).
