Note on Marriage
Robert was a machinist by 1873, appearing in a city directory at 102 Mulberry, Rhode Island.
He was a machinist with a house at "Oak, near Granite" in Maine in 1877.
In 1880, the family were staying in 119 Harrison St, Pawtucket, Providence, Rhode Island. Robert was working as a machinist while his wife was keeping house.
In 1885, Robert and his son Charles were both listed in the Rhode Island directory as machinists, with a house at 59 Miller, Providence.
When Robert died in 1886, an application was made for Ellen to receive a pension, as a widow of a Civil War veteran.
In 1890 and 1891, the Rhode Island directory lists her as living at 39 Central, Providence, Rhode Island. Her son Charles still lived with her, and presumably the younger children too. However, the same directory also gives for both of them the address 91 South, Providence - for the same years. So maybe they had a business address as well as a home address?
The Pawtucket and Central Falls directories for 1892-1895 show that she had a house at 197 Old Boston Road.
By 1900, Elizabeth was a widow, living with her daughter Mabel's family. Of her nine children, only three were still alive.
When Ellen died she was a housekeeper, and the informant of her death was George H Denham.
Note on Husband: Robert Teevens
In the 1860s, Robert fought in the American Civil War on the Union side. He was a private in Company D of the 2nd Regiment, Massachusetts Cavalry.
